Hailed by Opera News as a "first rate" soloist, Megan Cullen is a dramatic young soprano whose powerful voice and charisma have already captivated audiences across her country. Megan studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Boston University, and the Juilliard School. During the 2013-2014 season, she made her debut as Brünnhilde in "Die Walküre". In the German repertoire she sings the roles of Ortlinde, Venus and Ariadne. Her other roles include Donna Elvira, Turandot, Donna Anna, Suor Angelica, Senta, Elettra, Elisabetta, Ortrud, Lisa and The Mother ("Hansel and Gretel"). Megan is a popular recitalist, she has recently given concerts for the Wagner Society of Northern California, and "Musik in der Kirche", a series devoted to the development of German art. Megan is frequently featured as an artist with the "Opus" project, part of the Berkeley Arts’ Festival. She has sung The Faithful Seductress in Amy Beth Kirsten’s critically acclaimed opera "Ophelia Forever" with "Goat Hall" Chamber Opera, and participated in other performances of contemporary opera. Her recent awards include the Raphael Bundage Young Artist Award from the National Orpheus Vocal Competition (2014), and second place in the Rio Hondo Symphony Young Artists’ Competition (2014) and the "East Bay" Opera League Scholarship (2013) competitions. She has also won third prize in the International Liszt Competition.
