The soprano Maja Ceglar was born in Ljubljana. She is currently studying for her MA at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana under Professor Pia Brodnik. She has won many prizes in national and international singing competitions, such as first prize in the Slovenian national competition TEMSIG, and second prize in the Maribor and Bruna Špiler international competitions. Maja also reached the final of the International Maria Kraja Competition. She performs regularly at concerts and recitals, and works with famous conductors. She has performed in the "St John Passion" by J.S. Bach, "Wie der Hiersch schreit" by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, and many other sacral works. Her recent opera roles include The Governess in the "The Turn of the Screw" by Benjamin Britten, La Contessa Almaviva in the "Le Nozze di Figaro" and The Second Dame in "Die Zauberflöte" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and The Sparrow in "Brundibar" by Hans Krása.
