Sofija Vasecka was born in Riga, in 2007. She began to study violin at the age of 5 and currently, being 16 years old, she is studying at the Emila Darzina Music School in Riga with her teacher Nelli Sarkisyan. Sofija has participated at the International Kloster Schontal Masterclasses (2020-2023, Germany); Masterklass Haus Marteau ( 2021-2023, Germany). She has taken masterclasses conducted by Petru Munteanu, Krsyztof Wegrzyn, Paul Roczek, Axel Strauss, Annette Unger. Sofija has played as a soloist with Latvian National Symphonic Orchestra and as violinist in the orchestra too. She also has played chamber music with Amadeusensemble from Denmark. Sofija has participated at the following international competitions and festivals: Teodora Reitera Foundation Competition for Young Musicians, violin specialty category (1st prize; 2023, Latvia); Latvian National Competition for Young Musicians, strings category (1st prize; 2023, Latvia); 19th International Kloster Schontal Competition for Violin (2022, Germany); International Grumaux Competition for Young Violinists (2020, Belgium); 61st Kocian Violin Competition (2nd prize; 2019, Czech Republic); Latvian National Competition for Young Musicians, strings category (2nd prize; 2018, Latvia); International Talent Center Competition for Young Violinists (2nd prize; 2017, Latvia); 5th International Saulius Sondeckis Competition for Young Violinists (laureate; 2017, Lithuania), and others.
