Jan Šprta (b. 1989) started playing the piano at the age of 6, whereas in 2004–2010 he studied organ at the Brno Conservatory. In 2010-2014 he continued studies at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts, class of Piero Damiano Peretti. Organist subsequently received a Soloist Diploma in the class of Martin Sander in Basel. Jan won the international competition for young organists in Opava and was a finalist at the Daniel Herz competition in Brixen. In 2016 he was awarded the Hans-Balmer-Preis. The organist attended masterclasses led by organists Jean Guillou, Michel Bouvard, Guy Bovet, Olivier Latry, Ben van Oosten, Michael Radulescu, and Wolfgang Zehrer. Currently, Jan Šprta works as an organist and choir conductor in Switzerland. He recorded his first organ CD in 2016.
